(Made it a new topic to prevent the main one from getting flooded. xD This is supposedly after he travelled through Route 1, only Swipes will be mentioned so any pokémon he still catches in the topic are 'in their pokéballs'. xD)After navigating his way through Route One, which was made nearly impossible thanks to Swipes' seemingly endless energy as he stalked around for new 'prey', Narash had been exhausted. He had been running all over the place, just to catch up with Swipes, and worse yet, there was a slight cut on his forehead from where a Pidgey had attacked him. That didn't stop him however, from reading a sign nearby his home. Visit the Adoption Center! Help a Pokémon in need today! Find a new friend for tomorrow! |
"Oh, those poor Pokémon... S...swipes, we have to go adopt some... What if they never get a new owner and they will be sad forever?" Well, that was hardly likely, but in Narash's mind, right now those Pokémon were on the brink of starving to death, burning or possibly dieing from a lack of oxygen. Who knew what kind of horrible things could happen to them while they weren't under the proper care? When he got to the Adoption Center, it proved to be far less drastic than he had thought at first, the place seeming rather pleasant. It wasn't exactly the Pokémon Prison for Pokémon nobody wanted he had thought it would be, but that wasn't going to discourage him. He wanted to give the Pokémon a good home. And while he wasn't exactly the best trainer ever, or a trainer at all, he still cared deeply for his friends, and that was what counted, right? So gathering all of his courage, Narash carefully knocked on the adoption center's door, before slowly heading inside. "H...hello?"

The large entrance wall was completely void of living beings - well, besides Narash, of course. On the desk near the back of the room, there was a large sign that had been messily taped onto it. It looked like it had been made in a rush and was rather hard to decipher...
Out in field. If adopting, please either wait or come to look for me. If dropping items/equipment off, leave it near couch. (over there - - > ). If dropping off pkmn, come back at later date. Same as before if visiting. Sorry for any inconvenience. PS will be w/ seel near lake - don't come close w/ pkmn - they're sick and contagious Well, that was interesting. Now, the only question was, what should you do? Waiting would probably be more convenient for her; going to the lake would probably be more convenient for you. Probably. Everyone enjoys company - sometimes, even when they're busy. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to just go and try to find her...

Narash read the sign over several times, before calling a disgruntled Swipes back to his pokéball. None of his pokémon were enforced to stay in their pokéballs normally, but this was different. Swipes might not have liked staying in the ball, but Narash didn't want him to get sick.
"S...sorry Swipes, it's only temporary..."
Pocketing the shrunken ball, he hurried through the gate in the back, to look for Sarah. She can't have been too hard to find, the lake was easy to spot after all. Still, he was moving fairly quickly, not wishing to anger any Pokémon for staying in their 'territory' for too long.
Spotting a figure in the distance, he rushed over, completely out of breath by the time he got there. But at least he was still in one piece!
"H...h...hi. I...I saw the sign a...and I came looking for you. I... I hope you weren't too busy?"

A woman with short, deep blue hair was busily tending to a severely wounded Seel. The Seel looked amazingly small, but not terribly young. It was covered in dark bruises, sweat, mud, dirt, and a deep red substance that somewhat resembled blood, though it almost looked too thick and unnatural on its white coat to be its own blood - but it wasn't. It was amazingly similar to the blood of some creatures, but it was actually a self-made healing ointment Sarah had come up with several years before opening her first Adoption Center in a different region. For someone unacquainted with herbs and medicine, that would have been a fact that would be nearly impossible to recognize, though. Looking disgruntled, she stood up to wipe the sweat off of her face. That was the first time she saw Narash standing there; she hadn't so much as heard the trainer - not when she approached, and not when she had spoken. She smiled, trying to regain control of herself.
"Oh, um, I'm sorry. I hope you weren't standing there for too long... I'm Sarah. You see, someone adopted our previous Seel in a heartbeat, so I had been considering putting this one up for adoption as well... But then he was attacked by an angry Carvanha... Life really knows how to mess thin- never mind. You shouldn't have to listen to my own problems. I'm sorry. Can I help you?"

That Seel, he looked terrible! It was awful, he could barely even stand watching the poor thing. "W...will t...that Seel be alright?" He completely forgot about everything else he had wanted to say and ask, his concerns shifting almost instantly to the wounded Pokémon. It didn't look in any shape really, it was badly beaten up.
It wasn't until he looked back up at Sarah's face that he realised that she had been talking to him. "O...oh, n...no. I just got here. I...I want to adopt some Pokémon."
And with some, Narash meant as many as Sarah would allow him to walk away with. He really wanted to help the Pokémon to find a better home.

Sarah followed the trainer's gaze. Seeing the sympathy in her eyes, the woman felt safer giving up Pokemon to her; eyes never lied. They sometimes concealed the truth, but they never lied. For some reason, things such as sympthay and empathy made her more comfortable around people. Similarities between herself and others made it easier to trust others with her beloved Pokemon.
"Yes. After a few days with the healing ointment and a few days of not being active, he should be okay. He won't like those days, but he'll heal faster." She bent down to apply the blood-red ointment around some more, then rose back to full height. She pulled an ultra ball off of her belt and withdrew the badly injured Seel and turned to face the new trainer once more.
"Alright, that's good. Who would you like to take home?"

"G...good. I...I hope the Seel gets better soon..." He had always cared for Pokémon, greatly so. Even when he had not been a trainer yet, not all too long ago, he had done so. Once, when he was younger, he befriended a wounded Pidgey and nursed it back to health. It was ages ago, but it had been a memory that had stuck. Raising and helping Pokémon was great.
"O...oh, I...I don't know. Is...is there a list somewhere with the ones that are currently in need of adoption?"
He had rushed in so quickly that he had completely missed any possible lists, making it hard to pick. How could one pick if they didn't know what was available for picking?

Sarah's smile faltered for a moment. Why was everyone always so rushed that they couldn't take two minutes to look over the large piece of laminated paper she'd put on her front door? Oh well, it happened. Besides, if this boy wanted to adopt, he couldn't be too bad... She said nothing in reply; she just reached into one of her pockets and pulled out a crumpled list. There were images of several Pokemon, along with names, genders, levels, attacks and personalities. So far, three had been crossed off - one Shiny Silcoon and two Seels. The first Seel and the Silcoon had 'ADOPTED' written messily across their information. The second Seel had 'SICK - NOT UP' over it. Besides being folded and crumpled a bit, all the other Pokemon and their information was untouched. At the top of the page were the few amount of rules and regulations Sarah had put in place for her Adoption Center.
EDIT: Gender confusion. o.o;;;;

(Narash is male. xD)
Narash took the list with a somewhat guilty face when he realised Sarah stopped smiling, his face flustering red. "S...sorry, I got really excited and forgot to check for a list..."
He studied the list carefully, scratching his head with an 'ooooh' expression, a smile forming on his face again.
"S...so I can... adopt three Pokémon now, and come back next week?"
He really wanted to help these Pokémon find a better home, even if Sarah was taking seemingly perfect care of them. The Pokémon couldn't really be happy with spending the rest of their life in an adoption center, right?

((AH! *headdesk* *runs to edit* Awzmg, I'm sorry! By the way - she jumps to conclusions very quickly at times. This being one of them.)) She nodded, quickly accepting the boy's apology. However, her eyes bugged out when she heard what he said. She was in close contact with the gym leader, the contest coordinators, and the professor. No one had even gotten very far into Route One yet... And yet, here this boy was, wanting to adopt out an entire team! Why on earth was he so selfish? Her opinion of him had vastly changed from the time when he had apologized to the time when he had asked to adopt six freaking Pokemon. In other words, all the Pokemon she had up for adoption. She opened her mouth to refuse him access to any, but shut it before she could, trying to think it over. She shouldn't jump to conclusions; maybe he was... Confused. Maybe he hadn't seen the other trainers in the region. There were explanations besides him wanting to hog all the Pokemon he could.
"Um... I'm sorry, no. Well, I mean, technically, yes, you could, but... As it says there, I'd really prefer if you could save some for the other trainers here... And besides that, it usually takes a long time for Pokemon to adjust to a new trainer... Adopting six of them so quickly wouldn't be good for anyone - you, me, other trainer, or, especially, them... Why would you want so many?" The question at the end had come out in a rush; clearly, she had blabbed through the rest as a caution, but had really wanted an answer to that. As one who had only run one Adoption Center before entering Dianto Region - the first region had shut down before many trainers had come - she wasn't very clear on many trainer's motives. Everyone she'd ever encountered, both as an adult and as a trainer, had wanted another Pokemon or two for their team... But maybe there were... Other reasons? For the life of her, though, she could not see what those could possibly be.
