Alaina entered the Battle Arena, feeling rather alone as no one else was around. Sighing to herself, she still picked a field and decided to wait for another trainer to arrive. After a few minutes of silent boredom, she let out her three, mostly-untrained Pokemon. Eclipsa, her Cleffa; Zaria, her Skarmory; and Emyr, her Rattata. All three stayed close to Alaina, sensing the large emptiness of the arena. Alaina sat down at her end of the grass field, still anxious for her opponent's arrival. She had already thought the reasons for the battle over. They were few, but important enough to her, as a trainer, to make it worth it. One, her Pokemon needed actual training. Two, she wanted to meet other trainers. Three, she wanted to bond more with her Pokemon; the routes had not proved to be very successful with that. And four, she wanted the battling experience.

Okay, so, Yukisho did hate battling. He loathed it actually, the pain, the suffering, the whole ego of it all. But it had a different side to it as well, the cunning strategic side of it all. The Part which made others think about their next move carefully, like a chess game with your life on the line. He had seen others conquer a battle before it began, because they exploited others weak points. And the snowy-haired boy figured if he had practiced doing actions and thinking in that manner, then battling in contests would be extremely easier.
In addition he wasn't to skilled with his own Pokemon anyway, just learning their moves carefully and thinking how he could utilize them effectively was one part, but actually trying out this theory is totally different.
And thus, Yukisho entered the battle arena, arms above his head as he stretched as he yawned. So, where to start? Fuchsia eyes dull, he scanned the arena carefully, and spotted the grassy field not to far off, another trainer waiting patiently.
Maybe, this isn't a good idea...
"Why couldn't I just get a normal job...?" He murmured to himself crossly, but he walked to the other end of the grassy battle field otherwise. Taking two reduced sized pokeballs from his bag, he fiddled with them between his fingers, and then called out to the other, "Does a two on two sound good?"
He didn't see the need to introduce himself, to even say 'hello' politeness or mercy had no place in the battle field, Yukisho had learned this, and wasn't afraid to follow by it. Winning was his only goal right now.

Alaina surveyed the trainer coming forward, staring somewhat oddly at the white hair on his head, which was a deep contrast to hers, which was shaded deep red. Noticing that he was being rather impolite, not telling her his name or anything about himself, she decided to take the same tact. Not being friendly might make the battle that much easier; then you weren't taking out your friend. But, of course, it would make losing that much harder. Which was all the more reason for her to win. She nodded in response to the nameless boy's question-slash-statement, not saying a thing to him. She decided to leave her second pokeball a choice for later, depending on who her opponent would bring out. She did, however, pull out her first Pokemon. Perhaps it was a bad move, but she had chosen to test her opponent, as well as ensure some amount of training for her weakest Pokemon - though, it was also her only non-Normal type. So it was still fairly strong, in some ideas.
"Alrighty then... Go, Zaria! Ready for our first ever trainer battle?" Alaina murmured the last sentence quietly enough that only her shiny Skarmory would hear her words. Zaria nodded as she flexed her green steel-feathered wings, prepping herself for the upcoming battle that, she had not doubt, would be extremely hard. The wing flex also had a second purpose: Hopefully intimidating the opposing trainer, at least a little bit, by her sheer size. After all, trainer's emotions ran through their Pokemon; she knew just how true that was. Her nerves were suddenly running on high, when just five seconds beforehand, they hadn't; it was Alaina's emotions pouring through her, not her own. Intimidation wasn't likely to have any effect on a trainer prepared for a battle with another trainer, but it was worth a shot in the oddly colored Skarmory's unexperienced mind - her mind being unexperienced with battling, that was. And silently, the duo began thinking of strategies to win over their nameless opponent. Both were different, but both were encouraging, unlikely though they were.

Ah, what peculiar wings those Skarmory had. It was rare no doubt, and thus this trainer must be skilled in getting such a prize, these were Yuki's first thoughts of judgment. He had to be careful now, this didn't seem like no simply battle, of course it would be disappointing if it was simple, however complexity may not be the most best of things for basic practice.
The other had released only one of her Pokemon, when she was suppose to have released two. That was the rule, right? Dual pokemon fighting, which had its own set of advantages and disadvantages. The advantages were that both Pokemon got experience and you could use eachothers moves to aid eachother, to disadvantage was that it may be difficult for the trainer to command two Pokemon at once. There was a first time for everything, right?
"Represent well." Yukisho murmured, as the pressed the buttons on the Pokeballs, increasing their sizes impressively. Without much effort, the aspiring coordinator tossed the red and white spheres, which resulted in blinding white lights which slowly took form of two Pokemon.
One, small in size, with a bob of blonde hair, but a powerful expression. The other a beaver-esque creature, who took his time gazing longingly at the other Pokemon. The Smoochum saw this and sighed disappointingly, <"If you want to impress me, do it in battle, Bidoof."> Kissu, certainly didn't want to lose, and wasn't going to take any chances. The male Bidoof just sighed longingly, <"Yes, my love, anything for you, love.">
Taking furtive glances to both of his Pokemon, Yukisho questioned himself of this was the right choice, but quickly pushed the thoughts away. "Ladies first." So I suppose polite actions always had a way to dig themselves into Yuki's persona, it was difficult to change who you were.

((When I said two on two, I meant two Pokemon each, not a double battle. But a double battle's fine. ^^ So are we using all three of ours, or just these two? Either way's fine with me.)) Alaina watched the boy as his two Pokemon came out and she carefully began to contemplate her next Pokemon. She didn't really have many choices, considering she only had two others and they were both normal types, but she was looking for levels. She couldn't really tell on either of them; she wasn't quite as experienced as she had thought she was. However, she figured that her nameless opponent would only choose his strongest Pokemon. She fingered Emyr's pokeball for a few moments, but let out Eclipsa in the end. Eclipsa, though higher leveled than Zaria, was minuscule in comparison. A Bidoof and a Smoochum... This would be interesting.
"This is our first major battle! Alright, Zaria, use Leer. Eclipsa, use Charm. Lowering both of their defense and lowering both of their attacks by a lot - it'll be worth it!" Her two Pokemon nodded in brief response. Zaria folded her wings downward, trying to decrease her self-image so that her opponents would only focus on her head, and, more importantly: Her eyes. They began to glow a deep yellow, leering at each of her opponents in turn, trying to frighten them enough to effectively lower their defenses. Eclipsa, meanwhile, waited for Zaria to be done so that their opponents would only focus on one at a time. Once her partner was done with the stat-effecting attack, the Cleffa began her own. She jumped and danced around, trying to charm her opponents so that their natural power would decrease for the battle. According to the professor at the lab, Charm was slightly more effective on the opposite gender - it worked somewhat like Attract, apparently. They weren't quite as willing to do as much damage, sometimes. Whether or not that was actually true or not, she did not know for sure; it seemed to have worked on Emyr, but that was her first battle. It may have been a lucky coincidence back then.
