A nice little town it was. People were always friendly at Chartreuse Town. The only bad part about it, now, was the temperature. It was pretty chilly. The breeze added even more chill. Nature, sometimes, just isn't friendly. I am sure nobody wanted it to be cold, but it was. In a town, there is always one person who stands out, doesn't really fit in, and just unwanted in the area. Today, that person is a little 10 year old boy named Kenji.
"There it is" the small boy said. He stared up at the Pokemon Lab in awe. He would be ready to get his first Pokemon, if he could decide on one. Kenji thinks if he makes the wrong choice it will effect his life. Kenji just wasn't bright at all. If you were to give this boy a rock, he would most likely eat it, thinking it was a cookie. After staring up at the building, Kenji walked in through the large doors. "Hello!" he screamed with his high-pitched voice. The sound came back at him. It was an echo. Kenji, of course, thought it was an evil twin of himself. Therefore, he chased after the sound. "Hey, where are you?" he yelled constantly. Just wait until Professor Willow gets a load of this. "I hate you!" he said as he began kicking at the wall.
"This wall is strong and my toe hurts" Kenji cried. He began poking the top of his shoe and grunting every time. "Hello, is anyone here?" he cried. He waited for an answer. After waiting for less than a minute, he began walking around and touching all the gadgets and instruments inside the lab. "Hello?" he said for a final time.

The boy had woken up a sleeping Arcanine unfortunately. Azul snarled lowly as he circled around the kid, slowly getting closer. <Who're you?> he snapped at him. Azul wasn't really one who liked to be disturbed. He simply saw this kid as an intruder, nothing more and nothing less. If the boy did anything bad, Azul wouldn't hesitate to attack. That was his job afterall, protect the lab and his growlithe pups.
Professor Willow had heard the shouts and wondered who had walked in. Most aspiring trainers usually knocked. Who had enough nerve to just walk in? When both Roran and Rea began to scream their little heads off, the professor knew he had to get to the bottom of it fast. After only a moment of looking around, he saw the young boy. "Hush, Azul," Professor Willow asked. He had to ask instead of command the thing. Azul wasn't his, it was the Champion's. Azul did what he pleased although if asked nicely, he would stop.
Azul nodded and walked over to the desk to lay down. Professor Willow tilted his head at the boy in confusion. "Were you the one yelling?" Assuming he was, Professor Willow continued, "There are young children here, would you mind keeping it down?"

"No, I wasn't the one yelling" said Kenji. he put an innocent face on. He turned to the Acanine that looked like he already hated Kenji. He smirked only for an instant. Looking back up at Porfessor Willow, he smilied. "I only yelled becuase I was being attacked. Attacked by---this rock" said Kenji trying to sound honest. He didn't want to get in trouble. "I was just minding my own buisness, then----this rock told me to yell" Kenji said putting his head down. This was one of the stupidest excuses I have ever heard. Did he really think he was going to get away with it?
"I am only here to obtain my first pokemon" Kenji said. The boy looked over at the Arcanine again. "I will call you John" said Kenji with a large grin on his face. "I choose this one. The Arcanine. iIwant him to be myppokemon" Kenji said. Hopefully, he wans't serious. You cannot take others Pokemon. Did he not know he was supposed to choose one out of a group?

((If you can't tell, I feel very... Out of character with the Professor. o.o; ) The Professor stared at the boy in disbelief. First the rock, then... He wanted Arcanine? He sighed and tried to get rid of the odd feeling of doubt he had; indeed, he almost didn't feel safe giving one of his Pokemon to the trainer. But, of course, he had many insane Pokemon who would make perfect matches with the equally insane soon-to-be trainer. It all depended on who the boy, chose, of course. As long as it wasn't someone already owned, of course.
"Um... Okay. Sure it was. Either way, I don't really want to know. Please be more polite - more patient - next time, okay?" Professor Willow shook his head as he tried to collect himself and recover from the boy's shocking attitude. The rock excuse had truly set him off course, but the Arcanine, especially the name John had really made him lose track of things. For instance, it slipped the Professor's mind that he was supposed to help the new trainer get prepared for their upcoming journey, give them a Pokemon and their starting items. It took a moment for him to get back on track and figure out what to do next. He scratched his head, trying to think of what to say.
"Okay. The past is in the past. So, first off, the Arcanine does not belong to me. Even if he - his name is Azul, by the way, not... John - did... Well, I wouldn't give you him. As a Professor... It wouldn't feel right. You see..." He stammered, cringing slightly, trying to figure out how to phrase this by making it seem like it was a good thing that the boy wouldn't end up with the Arcanine.
"Well, you see... He's way too powerful and would never listen to anyone except his true trainer who raised him from a Growlithe. He's all wrong as a starter. He's got a nasty temper doesn't listen very well... Anyway, he's just not going to be yours." He ended blatantly, giving up on trying to convince the trainer who hadn't done so much as introduce himself. Well, then. Dealing with odd trainers was never easy; of course, until this point, he really hadn't had much of a problem with them. That was, however, a minor detail after all. Professor Willow sighed again, then went on, trying to properly fulfill his job for once.
"Let's start over. I am Professor Willows. You are?" He asked, trying to force a smile on his face to look a tad bit more professional. Needless to say, he failed. But it was an attempt, and that was more than he would have gone for, had he not been a professor aimed towards helping new trainers.
"Anyway, do you have any idea of which Pokemon you'd like to begin with? In case you haven't seen the updated list, here it is." He told the boy, pulling out a pamphlet containing information about every Pokemon available for new trainers within the lab. It told of the Pokemon's starting stats, their Pokedex entries, a picture of them, their evolution, how rare they were - everything. At the bottom of the page, in small print, it told of how, if a trainer disliked the Pokemon available, they could choose to randomize it.

Kenji thought for a moment and then looked over at the Arcanine once more. He looked up at Willow. "I choose Pikachu!" he said. Obviously, he didn't know Pikachu wasn't on the list. He only wanted one becuase a boy with a silly hat has one. He saw him on the television. Kenji then glanced down at the list.
"Oh, I see" the boy said, once noticing the mistake. "You spely the wrong" he smilied as he pointed down at the slip of paper. He giggled for a while and then got serious. "Okay, time to really get serious...Catch a Tiger by it's toe. If he hollars, let him go" he said with a hand covering his eyes. "I choose you" he said. His finger landed on the name, "Charmander". It seems a Charmander would be his first pokemon. This should be interesting.

((Where?)) The Professor nodded, getting slightly miffed with the boy. First, he completely ignored the rules of courteousness. Then, he requested a Pokemon that was so obviously not available it wasn't funny. He had the nerve to not even look at the list and request another Pokemon, and once he did look at the list, he found a spelling error. Then, he chose a Pokemon randomly! He didn't even have the sense to think things through. People like him, who didn't seem to fully appreciate the work it took to raise Pokemon, ticked his last nerve more than anything else. Regardless, he kept a straight face and walked off. A few moments later, he returned with a pokeball and a light brown shaded bag. Stiffly stretching his arms outward, he presented him to the boy.
