A figure stood before the lab, honeyed eyes reading off a list of Pokemon available for starting trainers; judging by the wardrobe, one could assuredly say it was a girl. Kimono layers revealed a plethora of different under coverings at her neck, where several collars of the robe like garments showed themselves; The outermost was a deep velvety plum color, offset by a striking red carnation pattern on the sleeves and hem lines and a golden obi belt, tied back in an intricate bow. Of course, over all of this detail rested a large, heavy robe, obviously for protection from the elements.
" Hmmmmmm. The variety's good, but I don't see any that would be striking in a contest." Murasaki's voice held a minor shiver, partly from her secret anticipation, partly from the cold. A bamboo umbrella rod was clasped over her right shoulder by her hand, while her left hand held the handle to an over sized roller bag, at her side. "I guess a random Pokemon would be a challenge, and hopefully a little more attractive than these things..." The pictures were blurred, and since she was a girl who hadn't seen half of the Pokemon this world offered Murasaki believed them to be accurate.
Thus, the young kimono wearing girl shuffle stepped into the lab, dragging a rather light suitcase and holding a Dragonair patterned umbrella laden with snow. What no one knew was that the suitcase was so light due to the fact she wore every article of clothing she'd packed. The first of many blunders perhaps?

A Professor's skills were very fine-tuned. Sometimes they could just sense when someone was at the door. Unfortunately, Professor Willow's skills of that sort had somewhat disappeared due to the twins. But things had calmed down alot now that both of the twins had gotten new toys thanks to The Champion. He'd always been supported of Professor Willow so with his great wealth, he sent over multiple baby objects such as toys, playmats, and the professors savior, two chairs that vibrated, sang, and put the babies to sleep quickly.
With all of this quiet, his senses had come back so he walked to the door and opened it with Azul at his side. The arcanine looked out to see the girl and then walked back in to watch the twins. "Hello, here for your first pokemon?" the professor began as he left the door open for her and walked to his desk. He sat down and brought up the list on his computer. The starters had recently changed so he used this as a quick reminder for him and perhaps it could help the aspiring trainers. The computer held loads of information on each pokemon.
"We have gotten new starters and have added what we call...'Pokemon du jour'." Oh my. Professor Willow found himself so funny. The whole Pokemon of the day thing? That had been his idea much to everyone else's disapproval. He giggled to himself lightly. If this girl laughed at his little joke, it would be extremely bad simply because it would make him truly think he was great. It would raise his corny ego so high that it would be impossible for it to fall back down. There'd be no more chance for him to ever be a normal person.

As Murasaki entered the lab, slightly surprised by the youth of the Professor, the first thing she noted asides from him was the rather impressive looking Arcanine. As she heard the Professor's "joke" Murasaki's face trained itself into a false smile of a mask, hinting at amusement even though she almost groaned at it.
"Professor, I'm going to become a coordinator, so naturally, I need a Pokemon who's beautiful, powerful, easy to command, versatile in combat, and agile." Though she'd just described a Pokemon many would consider flawless, Murasaki expected to be provided with such a one; truth of her belief lay in the serious, even tone of her light voice.
Leaning the umbrella back slightly, she twirled it, releasing the snow in a flurry about her; the flakes fell onto the heavy outer layer to melt while Murasaki began, " I'm not sure what Pokemon would be good for me, any suggestions?"

"Well you must understand that we come at a very limited supply." The arcanine nodded along with the professor's words. The Arcanine had only been here a day or so and saw very little selection with the pokemon that came through her. The growlithe pups slowly began to surround Azul before attacking him in a playful manner. The professor wasn't all too familiar with contest battles seeing as his journey lacked those. But he had seen a lot in his day and from what he could tell there were a few that seemed to stand out.
"I think that any pokemon could do well in a contest battle if the trainer is good enough. Although fire types and grass types seem to naturally do well," The Professor was technically talking to her, but he was also thinking aloud. The first remark wasn't really meant to call her a bad trainer but just to make her realise that all pokemon have great potential. He picked up one of the growlithe pups and said, "See? Even this little fella could be a great contest pokemon like Azul over there." He knew that Azul probably wasn't really a contest pokemon but he was still confident that the Arcanine would win with ease.

Murasaki sighed lightly as the Professor lectured her; she was used to it, having studied at the Dance Theater and not always been as flexible and nimble as she now was.
"Well, Professor, could you possibly put in that randomizer of yours that I'd like a Pokemon who's cute or beautiful? Then again, with me raising it, no Pokemon could stay grotesque, so if you can't, I should be fine." Murasaki's confidence showed itself in the form of a light, challenging laugh to herself.
In the back of her mind, Murasaki hoped for a handful of certain Pokemon; there were only three Pokemon she absolutely did not want, however. Both hands clasped the umbrella stick, rotating it rapidly. This was a little mental click of the girl's, a way to ease her nerves as she waited for the Professor to give her a Pokemon from the randomizer.

The randomizer was a machine that the Professor had proudly invented himself. It was attached to the computer and looked a bit like a small little PC. He walked over to the computer and sat down, quickly opening up a program on the computer. Pictures zoomed across the screen so quickly that only someone with an extremely high IQ could comprehend. This was a little safety program he had put on it to make sure that no one could hack it. Finally the screen began to blink as a picture of a certain pokemon began to blink. Slowly the randomizer began to rumble as the picture on the computer disappeared and a pokeball appeared in the randomizer.
He opened the glass over the machine and picked the pokeball up. "It's a cherubi. A cute little thing..." He trailed off quite quickly. His wife had loved cherubi. They used to decorate the garden outside. Infact a cherubi would be the pokemon that he was planning to give Rea as her first pokemon. "You can take this or one of the other starters."

"A cute little Cherubi? Hmmmmmmm..." Murasaki paused before nodding, " I'd like to train it, Professor. I think I'll be able to raise it to it's full potential."
Murasaki had seen a Cherubi once before back at the Theater, and thought of the adorable way it had behaved; indeed, it had all the cuteness of a contest worthy Pokemon, and some pretty nasty surprises up it's non existent sleeve.
" Could you possibly give me a few pointers though? Like what attacks the little one can use, where the first contest's being held at, where I can find a few easy gyms to practice battling at...."
While these questions came out of her mouth, Murasaki's mind was elsewhere; she envisioned herself and the small plant Pokemon center stage at the Grand Festival. A rather large leap, but who cared?

"Um...well," The Professor still hadn't much knowledge in contests. He walked over to the desk and put the pokeball into a bag as he began to think harder. He started to remember that Azul had infact been in a contest before. Only a few though since contests didn't seem to catch The Champion's interests much. He tried to remember back as the starter pack was completely. "Well, you see. My knowledge of that sort is limited. I've only seen the double contests in which two pokemon were used each. But from that I can say, use two pokemon that complement eachother nicely. Ones that can cover up eachothers faults and make eachother look even better." He didn't have much to say on the matter. Azul had been used with an eevee and they did absolutely amazing. Perhaps that was another good suggestion. Professor had learned a lot from that little battle. "And learn from others." He ended his little chat by handing her the bag with all the items and the pokeball. You have obtained: Name: Gender: Level: 5 Attacks: Tackle Personality: Obtained: Pokemon Lab -5 pokeballs -3 potions -Dianto Region Map -Badge Case -Ribbon Case

"Thank you for your advice Professor." Murasaki's voice was civil as she spoke, yet sounded slightly harsh; her thoughts were less favorably towards the Professor than her words. As if she hadn't heard that same line dozens of times before she left home.
"May I please have the little dear's Pokeball? I can't wait to start working on our combinations for contests!" Life returned to Murasaki's voice as she drew near Professor Willow, hardly making a noise besides for the swish of fabric as her feet propelled her forwards. She supposed she didn't need all that advice anyways, considering the Pokedex was bound to provide information on the attacks her Cherubi would learn. In her mind, Murasaki jumped at the thought of claiming it as her own and beginning her journey, even if the weather was unfavorable for her and the little cherry Pokemon.
Murasaki's smile grew as she tucked the empty Pokeballs into the sleeves of her kimono, a small click being emitted as though they latched to something; she'd hidden a set of magnetic clips, mostly used on people's belts, up her sleeve. The Pokeball containing the Cherubi found it's own place in her hand.
Several moments later, the rest of the items put in her rolling case, Kurasaki turned back.
"Thank You."
