Two pale figures made their lonely way toward the Laboratory, where they, Artemis and Noah Kata, would receive the necessities to begin their long-awaited journey. The sun was already high in the sky, indicating noon fast approaching; the 'morphs had left early, but they preferred to take their time. Walking at your own pace was wonderful. No one to rush you, tell you to stop slouching...
Thud.
...or to tell you to look where the hell you're putting your feet! Glaring icy daggers at the stone half-buried in the road, Artemis clambered to his feet laboriously, with the help of his older brother, and dusted off his custom-made jacket. He grimaced at the sight of a chipped claw protruding from his- again, custom-made -boot, and kicked the poor stone lying on the path, as if it would somehow apologize for what it had done to this young man.
"Damnit! Aniki, you could've told me!" the Linoone 'morph whined to the taller man beside him, who seemed speechless with unreleased laughter; upon detecting the pouting expression on his younger brother's face, Noah smiled, and pulled Artemis closer.
"Oh, but otouto..." he began, giving his younger brother an affectionate nuzzle, "...where would the fun be if I'd asked you to watch your step? I'm just kidding, baka." the Koffing morph added when his sibling stuck his pierced tongue out at him.
Pouting, the Linoone 'morph sniffed, and lead the way on; the Laboratory was beginning to loom up ahead, and both young males were eager to get their starters.

Outside of the lab a rather disorientated looking tall man was walking around, chasing after a Caterpie that was doing its very best to get away. A pair of glasses rested carefully on his nose to assist his eyesight, and a lab coat was pulled around his body. It would not be all too hard to tell that this man must have been one of the aides, although he did not appear to be a very good one.
"Get back here you little bug!" was only rewarded with a bit of string shot in his face, and he shook his head, giving up. It was only then that he noticed the two siblings coming closer, quickly straightening up, his face flushing red slightly from shame. "O...oh, good morning to you two. I suppose you are here for your starters?"
He scratched his head, pulling some of the string shot away from his face, quickly glancing around. "The professor isn't around at the moment, but I'm sure I could help you. I...I think?" The last was added somewhat uncertain, and the nervous aide scratched behind his head again, quickly heading for the door. "Come on in."

The sight of the man chasing, and being thwarted by, the Caterpie, was amusing, but neither of the brothers showed disrespect by laughing, even when the small green insect spurted a thick string of web at the aide; instead, they stopped silently, until the man gave up the chase and acknowledged them instead.
"O...oh, good morning to you two. I suppose you are here for your starters?"
Noah nodded, and cocked his head with a smile as he was told the professor wasn't around; good, it meant his brother and he could get on their way without suffering too much of a lecture. They weren't exactly new to this entire concept.
"Hai, my brother and I heard you had the option of receiving a random Pokemon, correct, ne?" he finally said; Artemis had done some research on the Lab before their arrival, and so knew what they had available for starter Pokemon. Neither brother really took a liking to any of the choices, so a random option was the best to go with.
The siblings followed the aide into the building obediently, and stood around beside each other, waiting for the man to provide them with whatever was necessary before they could leave the building.

"Oh, you mean grab one of the random Pokéballs from the pile in the back?" He laughed slightly, nervously scratching his head. Alright, maybe he shouldn't have said it like that, now it sounded like the Pokémon they were about to get were a bunch of complete rejects that nobody else had wanted. Still, he figured he might as well continue his story, hurrying over to a nearby machine, nearly stumbling over his own feet in his rush.
"Yesyes, let's see what we have here then..." An hand held device that resembled a Pokédex was pulled out of his pockets, to determine which Pokémon were next in line to be given away.
A bit of fumbling on the thing seemed to be in place, until two Pokéballs materialised on the machine, which seemed to resemble a trading machine of sorts. "Alright, that should do the trick. Just... let them out to see what you got."

"Oh, you mean grab one of the random Pokéballs from the pile in the back?"
This sentiment made Artemis twitch nervously and to look at his brother, who seemed equally confused about the idea of storing Pokemon that way. Nevertheless, Noah reassured his little brother by giving his shoulder a gentle touch, and then nodded at the man, though his eyes still betrayed a slight spark of apprehension.
"...well, yes, however you complete the process here." the Koffing 'morph replied, and watched as the man retrieved an odd device; after punching a few buttons, two red and white spheres appeared in the receiver, which he then handed to the brothers.
"Alright, that should do the trick. Just... let them out to see what you got."
Glancing at each other with a shrug of the shoulders, Artemis held the Pokeball in his hand, pointing it at the clean linoleum before him; Noah did the same, and at the same time, both of them uttered a single word to call out their new companions.
"Come."

"I...I was joking... the Pokémon aren't stored in a pile." He laughed nervously, trying to cover up for his obviously failed attempt at humor, instead falling completely silent. Great, this wasn't exactly what he had wanted, the two children seemed nervous now, thanks to what he had said. Hopefully those nerves would calm when the Pokémon came out.
Artemis received a Horsea!
Name: -You Decide- Species: Horsea Gender: -You Decide- Level: 5 Attacks: Bubble, Smoke Screen Personality: -You Decide-
Noah received a Rhyhorn!
Name: -You Decide- Species: Rhyhorn Gender: -You Decide- Level: 5 Attacks: Horn Attack, Tail Whip Personality: -You Decide-
"Oooh, would you look at that! Those are some amazing Pokémon! Although I think that Horsea is better of in the water, it might dry out otherwise."

Artemis smiled at the aide's attempted humor, a small flush gracing his cheeks; it seemed the man was as nervous about dealing with new trainers as Artemis was about receiving a completely random Pokemon.
"Heh... don't worry, I know you were jesting." the Linoone 'morph spoke for the first time in the man's presence; he was distracted from his thoughts by the aide's exclamation at the identity of their new comrades.
"Oooh, would you look at that! Those are some amazing Pokémon! Although I think that Horsea is better of in the water, it might dry out otherwise."
Horsea?
Did the man just say... Horsea?
Artemis glanced at the spot in front of him, only to have to suppress a squeal of delight; a small squeak emanated from his throat, as he witnessed the small seahorse. It was only one of his favorite Pokemon, and he'd been lucky enough to receive one as a starter!
He glanced at Noah's result, and grinned; the Rhyhorn his brother had gotten looked like a tough one. An unusually complicated Pokemon to raise due to its stubbornness, but he was sure Noah would do fine with it.
"She's sugoi... amazing." Artemis whispered as he crouched to greet the small Horsea; the Water-type gazed right back with red eyes, lying semi-sideways on the floor, due to a lack of water, but seeming happy nonetheless. Cradling the tiny body in his hands, Artemis picked the Horsea up and hugged her.
"I'd like to name you Delilah," the Linoone 'morph purred, hugging the Horsea close, "But I need to know if you like that name."
The Water-type blinked slowly, and then shook her head no. Although Artemis' expression fell slightly, he was undaunted.
"Does... Luna sound better?"
Another shake of the head.
"Koona?"
And so on and so forth; each name was rejected, and Artemis was beginning to feel bad. His ears drooped slightly, and he bit his lip; perhaps the Horsea did not like him.
<Wicky.>
The Linoone 'morph looked up, and then at his Horsea, who was staring right back serenely.
"What?"
<Wicky. I want to be Wicky.>
Artemis' mouth split into a smile, and he hugged the Horsea gently.
"Wicky it is."
Noah, meanwhile, was on the floor, gently petting and stroking the Rhyhorn's leathery hide; the Rock-type was making soft growling sounds, a sign that he enjoyed the attention. The Koffing 'morph already had a name in mind, and he wasted no time in asking for the Rhyhorn's agreement.
"Sidoh. I'd like to call you Sidoh, if that's all right." he queried; the Rhyhorn stared for a moment, and then made a grunt of agreement.
<That sounds alright. I'd like to go with you.>
Now that both boys were acquainted sufficiently with their Pokemon, they withdrew their companions, and smiled, turning to the aide to thank him.
"Arigatoo, we appreciate your help very much."

"Ah, b...but there really is no reason to thank me. I'm just doing my job, you should really thank professor Willow." He watched the two young men hold conversations with their Pokémon, before suddenly realising that his assistance was more than simply giving out the Pokémon. Wouldn't have been much or he'd have sent the two youngsters away without the necessary gear for such an undertaking!
Noah and Artemis both received their own starter set! -Pokeball x5 -Potion x3 -Pokedex -Ribbon Case -Badge Case
"H...here, take these as well. The Pokéballs will enable you to capture new Pokémon a...and the potions might be useful if you get yourself in trouble. Oh, and that Pokédex, it registers everything you've seen and caught. It's really nice and fancy." The explanation didn't exactly seem needed, considering that both the new trainers seemed to have an understanding of Pokémon already, but it was his job to tell them anyways.
"S...so take the starter set, and keep yourself out of trouble, okay?"

Noah smiled, pocketing the Pokeball containing his new Rhyhorn; more interaction would come along later on.
"We thank you, because you helped us," the Koffing 'morph replied, and Artemis agreed with a nod. Both brothers accepted their items, slinging the bags over their shoulders securely after quickly scanning each other's Pokeballs to record the Horsea and Rhyhorn's information.
"S...so take the starter set, and keep yourself out of trouble, okay?"
The Pokemorph brothers agreed with a laugh, and left the laboratory, shouting goodbyes even as they turned a corned and disappeared.
"Thanks again~"
