Liam dawdled along the ground, his feet making an odd romp noise with every step. Perhaps it was the ground, or maybe even his feet. He didn't know, nor did he care. A breeze blew through, sending some nearby Pidgey into a flurry, which also blew his large, oddly coloured jacket into all manner of strange shapes. Reaching out a hand, he pulled the garb back around his thin body.
Smiling with the pleasure of being surrounded by pokemon, Liam waved to a man shoveling his walk, who seemed grumpy and only shook his head. The boy didn't care, and he continued along. He was here to get a pokemon! This was exciting! Nothing could stop him if he had a new friend. Removing a blue hat, that very much clashed with his patchwork jacket, he gazed around his immediate area.
There appeared to be nothing more than houses, houses, and more houses, but no lab. Frowning, Liam stopped. Pocketing his hat, the boy nimbly climbed a nearby tree, as to get a better view. This tactic proved effective, as the boy spotted the lab off to his left, not even very far away.
With renewed vigor, Liam leapt off the foliage, which almost killed a Meowth that had been sniffing at some garbage. Coming to a clumsy landing, the tall boy set off on a quick dash the remaining 500 yards, arriving at the professor's doorstep about a minute later. Panting to catch his breath, Liam reached a bony hand up, rapping on the door with an abnormally loud noise for his tired state.
(Sorry about the short length. I'm kinda tired right now.)

A girl with shoulder-length wavy brown hair opened the door. She looked rather distracted and definitely was not focusing on the person for whom she had opened the door. In her right hand, she carried a list that was about two and a half times the length of a normal sheet of paper, in her left, a cup of coffee. The list was filled with the day's instructions. The print on it was tiny, but most of it was crossed off. She was walking off, leaving the door wide open, when a large Togekiss flew into the room, being chased by a rolling Golem. The Togekiss looked behind her shoulder and accidentally rammed into the girl. Her coffee spilled everywhere - literally, everywhere. It landed on the girl, on the girl's list, on the Togekiss, on the Golem, splattered onto the floor, even flew towards the person in the doorway. Who knew one small cup could contain so much? Her eyes widened in a mixture of what appeared to be confusion, surprise, disdain, and, apparently, outrage. She exhaled heavily, pulled out two pokeballs and withdrew the two Pokemon, both of whom looked extremely guilty. Finally, she turned her attention to the boy in the doorway. She shut her eyes for a moment, trying to regain her composure as quickly as possible. She squeezed out some of the coffee that was slowly making a stain in her shirt.
"Um... I'm really sorry about that. My Pokemon aren't used to this place just yet. I'm Alexis - one of Professor Willow's aides. Are you here for a starter Pokemon? Oh, my goodness, come in!" She opened the door wider, giving the tired, but excited, looking trainer room to come in. The girl, Alexis, looked rather embarrassed about the events he had just witnessed, but decided to move past that. Or, try to, at least.

Liam smiled as he watched the various things unfold in front of him. The woman appeared to be in a hurry to get somewhere, and she distinctly reminded him of him mother in Snowpoint. Due to his past experience with people like this, he was not surprised to soon have coffee in his face.
Bringing up a skinny hand, Liam used it to wipe as much as the hot liquid as he could off of his face. With a calm demeanor, he flicked his hand toward the ground, sending a sprinkle of the brown stuff onto the door step. Bringing his hand back to his side, he looked back to the woman.
"Well nothing like some coffee in the face to wake you up in the morning!" Pausing for a moment, he smiled, before continuing. "It's quite all right though, Alexis. Reminds me of home. My mother was just like that. I'm Liam, the person here to get his Pokemon."
Bringing his shirt up to his nose, he sniffed it intelligently, an odd mix of adverbs to be sure. Coming to a conclusion, he said, "Black! Just like dad used to make!" Smiling brightly and bubbly, Liam entered the building, closing the door behind him as he came in. As he did this, he looked around at the architecture of the laboratory.
"Nice place." he murmured admirably, though his deep voice was softer now. "It really gets the lab thing down." Looking back to the woman at the door, he said cheerily, "Now then, where would we be going to see the Pokemon?"

"Yah, slight coffee addiction. Gets me up in the morning. Hydrates me in the afternoon. Keeps me up at night." Alexis nodded, a slight grin on her face. She looked apologetic for having spilled the coffee on the boy, but said nothing, as she had already apologized. She nodded again, this time at the mention of his name. Liam. That was an interesting name. Especially when it was spelled backwards - maiL. That was even more interesting. Of course, she was fairly certain that he had not been named after what the postal service delivered; it was probably a family name or something. Either way, it was a unique name. She liked unique things.
"Yes, it's black. The only way I like I find it edible - or, drinkable, I guess. Good nose. And, um, I'm sorry, I can't bring all the starters to you. Some of them don't mix well together. That's why they're usually contained in their balls. Of course, once they leave the lab, they adapt to being out of their balls with ease. However, if there's a few you'd like to see, I can do that. Oh, if you don't know who the starters are... Here." As she spoke her last sentence, she pulled a sheet of paper out of one of the many pockets in her lab coat. It was laminated and folded in half. Once unfolded, it showed all of the starter Pokemon that were available, along with their stats, a pokedex entry and an image of each. At the bottom, in semi-fine print, it mentioned that if a new trainer didn't like the available starters, they could ask for it to be randomized.

As Liam listened to the things Alexis was saying, his left hand came to rest on his chin, giving him an almost thoughtful look. Giving her a Hmmm in response, he thought of what he could do. While deep in thought, his right hand began to wander, and, without his brain knowing, plucked the list ot of Alexis' hand.
Absently unfolding the laminated paper, his hand brought it to his face, his unfocused eyes imeaditly looking in its direction. Without really wondering where this list had come from, he began to go down through the stats of the different pokemon, using his off hand as a pointer. Nothing really caught his eye in terms of pokemon, and he was about to return it to the woman, when he noticed the note at the bottom.
Reading it intently, Liam raised an eyebrow, looking at the words quizzically. This caught his eye insead of the actual pokemon. Bringing the list away from his face, he showed Alexis his choice. Pointing to the notice, he said, "That one, the random thing. I'm not really sure how it works, but it seems interesting."
After saying what had to be said, Liam folded the laminated paper in half, handing it back to the professor's aide. He had a rather confused look on his face now, as he tried to figure out how the generator could work. It didn't make sense to him, but he shrugged it off for now. He had other things to focus on.

((Don't forget to put a link to your PC in your signature. ^^)) Alexis nodded, though she said nothing. Instead, she just walked over to a computer which was located in the corner of the main hall. Motioning for Liam to follow, she sat down at the dark gray computer and waited for it to boot. It was attached to several pipes leading through the wall. Once it was on and running, she inserted several bits of information; there were options between 'Choice' and 'Random,' Gender, Type, Appearance, Rarity, etc. All except the rarity, trainer name, her ID number, and the fact that she wanted a starter-appropriate Pokemon were blank. Alexis did a quick scan of the information, and started the machine. Images of many Pokemon were flashing by on the screen so fast that it was nothing more than a blur of colors and shapes. After a few minutes, it had slowed down considerably, and some Pokemon were distinguishable. The computer finally came to a stop about two and a half minutes after Alexis had started it. On the screen, was a Pokemon shaped distinctly like a moon - Lunatone.
"Well, there you are. Would you like a Lunatone, or a regular starter?" She asked, looking up at the boy. Her index finger hovered above the Enter key as she waited for his answer.

Liam stared intently at the computer as Alexis was doing various things. He'd never had much expirence with computers in his life, and he was impessed at how fast the woman was running the program. It looked immensly complex to him, and he doubted he'd understand it, even if it was his job.
He observed her motions, then those of the computer as hundreds of pokemon flashed across the screen. These slowed down, coming to a gradual stop at a moon shaped pokemon, a Lunatone. He had seen these many times before in the mountains during his travels, and they mainly had a calm demeanor, as well as a wide varity of attacks.
Looking at the picture for another moment, Liam slowly nodded.
"Yes, a Lunatone would be nice."
As he said this, he gradually nodded faster, as though agreeing with himself on this statement. He repeated himself, louder this time, before stopping his head's motion. He only hoped the pokemon would be kind, not powerful.

Alexis nodded her approval of the boy's decision and pressed the Enter key. The computer made a weird, whirring noise and a slot on the side of the screen opened, revealing a box. Inside it, sat a pokeball. Alexis rose and walked around to the other side of the computer. She opened a small cabinet, pulled something out, and walked back over. In her hand, she held a small, light brown colored bag. She was about to give both items to the soon-to-be trainer when she noticed the pokeball the Lunatone was contained in. It had a small, golden star etched on the upper red portion of the ball. She let out a soft chuckle as she held them both out for Liam
"Well, now, that's interesting... You got our best, and weirdest, Lunatone. It's incredibly loyal and is, overall, the best starter we have. Unfortunately, most Lunatone aren't, and they're not really fit for the average starting trainer. Anyway, this one seemed to think it was like a Pidgey and that it could fly, when it can actually only levitate. It's... Well, it's got some serious jealousy issues when it sees flying type Pokemon. Be careful whenever you're around birds, okay?" You received a Lunatone!Name: -You Decide- Species: Lunatone Gender: -x- Level: 5 Attacks: Tackle, Harden, Confusion Personality: Trusting | Loyal | Helpful | Obedient | Wishes it had wings You also received: -Pokeball x5 -Potion x3 -Pokedex -Ribbon Case -Badge Case
