Giving your Pokémon detailed orders was an amazing way to increase their efficiency, and it worked very well if you were doing so against wild Pokémon, or possibly deaf trainers, but announcing your strategies out loud also had a counterside.
Narash knew exactly what the little ball of grass was going to do, he would dive forward and then go left, before using absorb. With that knowledge, it was a lot easier to prepare an effective counter, before Aoi had even started to move.
He waited patiently as the Oddish came closer, before calling out a 'Now Spark, tackle to your left!'.
The fact that he knew where the Oddish was going to end up helped, and Spark knew it also, charging into a tackle, rushing straight through the Absorb. Alright, so he hadn't exactly managed to dodge it, but that didn't matter if he could just slam into Aoi with a tackle. The Absorb stung at best, hopefully the tackle would do more damage than that.

Murasaki's heart fell as she watched aoi be thrown backwards by the force of the Tackle; she'd given away her whole strategy, and that wasn't a wise move. Perhaps she'd underestimated her opponent too much?
Luckily, Spark had run through the Absorb; promptly, the lights flew back to Aoi, slightly rejuvenating the injured Oddish. It was a bit of a trade off, that both attacks had hit, but it was obvious which Pokemon had come out on top in that round.
"Aoi, I don't think either of us would like it much if that happened again. How about using Absorb from long range this time?" Murasaki asked.
Complying to the suggestion of her trainer, Aoi released the green orbs once more, not moving from her position this time. They moved a little slower, weaving amidst one another through the air as they drew closer to Spark. Aoi was concentrating , directing them through the air, moving them about in order to confuse her enemy, occasionally leaving a large gap through them.
Murasaki was mildly surprised, although delightedly so. she'd never thought of using Absorb like that, or even realized that Aoi had that sort of control over the move. Then again, when one stopped to think, they'd realize that Absorb was the only move that the Oddish had been armed with during her life so far, so it did make sense she knew how to handle it.
The Absorb still hadn't struck...

"Spark, avoid it and tackle again."
She might not have been giving her strategy away this time, but now the balls were a lot slower, with Shinx actually being pretty quick. Narash was hoping that the Shinx would be able to exploit that fact by simply avoiding the attack.
The female Shinx had been carefully studying the balls of green energy fly through the air, coming ever closer to her face with the slow pace they had. The little ball of grass seemed to be directing it, it was looking so intensive and focused, the little balls being all she really seemed to be able to pay attention to.
When they finally got closer, Spark dashed forward the moment she saw a gap, getting hit by only a few of the little green bubbles that were thrown at her as she charged at full speed towards Aoi, hoping that the little plant would be too busy with the Absorb attack to notice the impending tackle, headed straight for the little plant.
(I guess a move can partially hit if it's made up out of several balls? -Shrug.-)

Murasaki grinned as she watched Spark dive through one of the lazy gaps in the Absorb's flight; indeed, Aoi seemed even happy to see the Shinx dart through them. A plan formulated in the heat of battle, perhaps?
"Aoi, plant your feet and recall the Absorb, on the double!" Murasaki called, watching the Oddish lean forward, shifting her weight into her legs. As this happened, the green spheres picked up speed, flying back to wards Aoi and, incidentally, Spark's back. Murasaki had fought with Aoi once before, and learned of her control over the Absorb technique; using it and the opponent's move to trap the foe into taking damage was surely a thing few trainers could fully grasp. Coordinators, however...
Of course, Murasaki still kept on her toes; one could never tell how effective a move was in real battle if one only used theory. Besides, if the Shinx didn't dodge, Aoi would still take the force of the Tackle attack; would the Absorb be enough to bring her back to full power?

"Faster Spark, run!" The Shinx continued rushing at the little plant ahead, the absorb attack flying quickly after her. Even if she did hit her tackle now, the absorb would simply hit her in the back and steal most of the health lost thanks to tackle back. That was hardly very effective, and even an inexperienced trainer such as Narash realised that.
"Jump! Jump over the Oddish!" At the very last moment, leaping over Aoi, in an attempt to make the Oddish either drop the attack, or hit itself, before running around in a circle as quickly as she could, coming rushing back at the back of the Oddish in the form of a tackle again. Narash might not have been very confident about his abilities, but when it came to strategies, he seemed to have a pretty good grasp of things.

Aoi's Absorb returned just as Spark flew over head, hardly restoring any power; the Shinx had only hit one during the whole run. To top matters off, the Tackle attack had hit Aoi true, sending the Oddish, who had still been leaning forward, tumbling along the ground for a foot or so.
He's good, much better than I first gave hime credit for....And that Shinx is far too quick for even the speediest Absorb attacks to hit true. I've always got one more trick up my sleeve, though... Murasaki's thoughts shifted again. " Aoi, use your Sweet Scent!"
The Oddish, grinning, turned to face her foe, the leaves on her head shaking in a slight breeze; actually, it wasn't a breeze at all! Aoi was shaking her leaves, releasing a pink perfume into the air, that spread around her, before drifting to wards Spark's position.
"Now, spin!" Murasaki called to Aoi, who spun, releasing more of the Sweet Scent in a circle around her.
This should slow the Shinx down enough to let us land an Absorb or two...even if she doesn't inhale the main spray that Aoi sent her way, the minute she gets too close, the Sweet Scent perimeter around Aoi should trap her senses....either way, this round's definately more about defense for me. Murasaki's thoughts collected themselves. She didn't need to add that if the Sweet Scent proved effective, the Shinx's evasive skills would weaken slightly for the rest of the battle...

Narash was completely clueless as to what was going on now, strange pink petals flying around the little Oddish. He had never actually seen a Sweet Scent attack before, so he was forced to pull out his Pokédex to figure it out. Some trainer he was.
'A sweet scent that lowers the foe's evasiveness, this amazing scent will make it very hard for a Pokémon to continue focusing.'
Oh, that did not sound good at all. Surely enough the sweet scent was barely even reaching Spark at the time being, but he couldn't exactly get closer either. Or... could he? Being a scent, it obviously depended on being breathed in, or smelled. But what if Spark -couldn't- smell or breathe the attack?
"S...Spark, use your bandanna as a mask. Pull it in front of your snout!"
That was easier said than done, for the Shinx did not have any actual hands, but that wasn't completely an end to the strategy. Eventually the Shinx had managed to somewhat pull the bandanna around its neck up, to filter the air slightly, charging at the Oddish again.
Shinx did seem to slow down a bit, slightly distracted by the trinkles of scent that were escaping through the bandanna, but at least he did not slow down to a complete stop like he would have otherwise.

Murasaki had to admit the boy was clever; using the bandana to shield the Shinx from the majority of the Sweet Scent attack was something she hadn't expected. Fortunately, it seemed as though the bandana couldn't shield Spark completely, for she noticed the little shinx slow down.
"Aoi, jump back and spin!" The evasive maneuver was slowly becoming a key point to the grass type's defense, for Aoi propelled herself into the air backwards, using a spin to travel a little further than normal. The gap between the two was still closing, yet the lingeriing Sweet Scent that hung about Aoi could still be useful.
"Now, while it's running into the Sweet Scent, use your Absorb, and make it a fast one!" Murasaki called, watching as Aoi released the greenish spheres. This time around, the number of them decreased. Perhaps the Oddish sacrificed power for speed?

"Spark, dash around it and do a tackle!"
That was a lot easier said than done for the little Shinx, who had gotten quite a bit of of Sweet Scent in his system, despite the muffler. The dodging wasn't exactly proven very easy, and several of the green balls managed to latch onto the Shinx's side, to drain life away, stinging rather painfully.
That was not going to discourage Spark however, who still had some energy left in her hyperactive body, charging forward at the spinning Aoi to tackle it. This was going to be a pretty close fight, Spark was running out of energy and going slower, but Aoi looked far from amazing also.

Aoi looked a little more revitalized after the last Absorb returned, with more energy than any of the prior volleys had brought back. The Oddish managed to take the hit from Spark without fainting, but looked the worse for wear because of it. As she flew through the air, Aoi released more of her Sweet Scent, raining the stuff down on her path, and Spark. The natural defense mechanism might have held the key to victory, or defeat.
"Aoi, get closer and use Absorb!" Murasaki commanded, noting that both Pokemon seemed to be nearly worn out. She coukldn't help but admit, begrudgingly so, that Narash's control over Spark was good, and he had been skilled enough to save the Shinx from being sapped by a full force Absorb the entire battle.
Perhaps the spheres that Aoi released, as she pulled within a yard of Spark, would be the first to hit dead on? The only way the Oddish could endure much more would be a substantial hit, with a gain to match...
<"This is getting good"> Kurenai whispered, watching the two struggle in the field.
